How this puzzle comes together
Hot air balloonists catching a sunrise set up EARLY TO RISE in two ways at once. The baskets rise in cool morning air, and the caption borrows the dawn half of the old healthy, wealthy and wise proverb. Build the board by letters, not left to right. BLOCK is the five-letter snap (BL plus OCK), and its circled L and O open the punchline bank. DRESS follows: the double S wants the edges, and R, E plus the final S feed straight into RISE. GRITTY parks the awkward double T as GR plus IT plus TY and adds I, T and Y, which finish EARLY and RISE. Save BREACH for last on purpose. It is the hardest word today, but after the other three you already know the caption still needs an R, an E and an A, so the BR plus EACH shape has something to aim at instead of a cold scramble.

Hardest word: BREACH
REACH uses five of the six letters and looks finished until the leftover B has nowhere to sit. BEACH and CHASE tug the same direction and fail on missing or extra letters. Stop treating REACH as the answer. Park BR at the front (break, brave, bring) and drop EACH behind it. Most solvers spend their longest stretch of this puzzle resisting that one consonant move.
What this puzzle teaches
When a five-letter near-miss leaves one consonant stranded on a six-letter rack, try that consonant as a two-letter opening blend (BR, BL, CR or CL) before you scrap the whole arrangement. BREACH is today's clean case: the stranded B was never leftover junk. It was the start of the real word. The same habit would have saved time on BLOCK if CLOCK had fooled you first. Word-by-word breakdowns
Each word has its own page with solving notes, a letter map and its definition:
- CLBKO → BLOCK (to stop movement through a space)
- SRDES → DRESS (a one-piece garment with a skirt)
- AHBRCE → BREACH (a gap or opening made by breaking through)
- RTYIGT → GRITTY (full of grit or sand)
- LORESREAITY → EARLY TO RISE (getting up at dawn)
