Plain text: circled letters HWRPCESIS unscramble to "CREW S" SHIP.
How this puzzle comes together
Once passengers leave, the ocean liner is only a "CREW S" SHIP — crews split so the empty vessel reads as the crew's ship. Build by letters, not left to right. SHOWN snaps once S leads, and its H and W open the bank. CRYPT follows with CR plus YPT, circling R and P. ACCEPT parks the double C and hands C plus E. Save CRISIS for last: after the other three you already know the caption still needs S, I and S.
The October 23 words at a glance
| Scrambled | Answer | Letters | Circled |

| NHWSO | SHOWN | 5 | H, W |
| TYRPC | CRYPT | 5 | R, P |
| ETCPAC | ACCEPT | 6 | C, E |

| HWRPCESIS | "CREW S" SHIP | 9 | Caption answer |
Hardest word: ACCEPT
CAPE uses four tiles and looks finished until a leftover C has nowhere to sit. PACE fails the same way. Park AC up front, then CEPT so the second C sits inside the opening chunk — that double-C move is what solvers resist longest today.
What this puzzle teaches
When a six-letter rack leaves one consonant stranded after a neat four-letter word, check whether that consonant wants to pair with another copy of itself near the front. ACCEPT is today's clean case: the spare C belonged beside the first C in AC from the start. For more general patterns, see How to Solve Jumble Puzzles Faster.
Word-by-word breakdowns
Each word has its own page with solving notes, a letter map and its definition:
- NHWSO → SHOWN (past participle of show)
- TYRPC → CRYPT (an underground vault, especially a burial chamber beneath a church)
- ETCPAC → ACCEPT (to receive something with approval, or to admit someone to a group)
- ISRCSI → CRISIS (a decisive turning point, or an unstable situation facing sudden change)
- HWRPCESIS → "CREW S" SHIP (a twist on crew's ship)
